GPS Ride Tracking, Now in Beta

The most annoying part of tracking maintenance by hours or miles is keeping those numbers current. You ride, you forget to log it, and a month later you’re guessing how many hours are on the machine. That guess is how service intervals drift.

So here’s the first swing at fixing that. GPS Ride Tracking, in beta starting today.

Start a ride and LookOver tracks your distance and hours in the background while you focus on the trail. It keeps running with your phone in your pocket. When you’re done, you review the distance and hours before saving them straight to your machine’s history. No manual entry, no guessing later.

You can also export any track as a GPX file if you want it in another app. And distance shows up in whatever unit you ride in, miles or kilometers.

I’m calling it beta on purpose. Background GPS is hard to get right across every phone and every signal situation, and I’d rather be honest that this is the first version than oversell it. It works, and it’s already useful, but I’m going to keep hammering on reliability based on what real rides turn up. If yours does something weird, tell me. That feedback is exactly how this gets solid.

This is a premium feature and it needs location permission to do its job.

Automatic tracking isn’t really about the map. It’s about your reminders being right. When your hours and miles update on their own, your service intervals stay accurate without you thinking about it. The more you ride, the more your maintenance schedule reflects reality.

That’s the direction. This beta is step one.
