Age Suitability
Last updated: July 2026
LookOver is a maintenance tracker built for riders and the families who wrench alongside them. This page explains what's inside the app, why it's appropriate for all ages, and how parents can use it to pass the value of good maintenance on to the next generation.
Rated 4+ on the App Store and for all ages on Google Play
There's nothing in LookOver that isn't suitable for every age. It's a maintenance tracker, start to finish.

What's Inside the App
LookOver helps you keep track of the machines in your garage. Here's everything the app actually contains:
- Machine records for your own dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and the truck and trailer that haul them, including any notes and photos you choose to add.
- Service logs for the work you do, with dates, mileage or hours, cost, notes, and any photos, receipts, or documents you choose to attach.
- Reminders and maintenance schedules that count down to the next service.
- Optional GPS ride tracking that runs only when you start it, so your hours and miles fill in on their own.
- Optional Pro helpers that turn a sentence you type or a photo of a receipt into a tidy service record.
There's no social feed, no comment section, no messaging with strangers, and no built-in web browser. Nothing streams in from the outside. What you put in is what you get back, kept private to your account.
Built to Teach the Next Generation
Maintenance is a skill you pass down. A lot of us learned it in a garage next to a parent or grandparent, handing over wrenches and soaking up why the oil gets changed every so many hours and what happens when it doesn't.
LookOver turns that into something a kid can see and do. Log a fork oil change together. Watch a reminder count down toward the next one. Learn that a two-stroke thinks in hours while the truck thinks in miles. It's a low-stakes, hands-on way to teach responsibility, planning, and respect for the machines that carry you into the backcountry.
Kids who grow up tracking maintenance grow into riders who don't get stranded 20 miles from the trailhead. That's the whole idea.
I'm Derek, and I built LookOver because I needed it. I'm also a dad of three, so the garage isn't just where I keep my machines running. It's where my kids learn to slow down, pay attention, and take care of the things that carry us.
Teaching them to log a service and watch a reminder come due is teaching them to look after what matters. If LookOver helps your family do the same, that's the best kind of win.

Using LookOver as a Family
Because account creation is for riders 13 and older, the simplest way to bring a younger kid in is to work from your own account, on your device. A few ways families do it:
- 1Add the family's machines together and let them snap the cover photos.
- 2Log a service side by side right after a wrench session, while it's fresh.
- 3Review the week's reminders at the kitchen table and decide together what to tackle.
- 4Use the maintenance schedule to explain why intervals exist and what skipping one costs down the road.
For teens between 13 and 18, LookOver may be used with a parent or guardian's consent, in line with our Terms of Service.
Accounts & the 13+ Age Requirement
Two different things sometimes get mixed up here, so it's worth being clear about both.
The content is appropriate for all ages
There's nothing in the app a young rider shouldn't see. It's maintenance records, reminders, and photos of your own machines.
An account is a different matter
To protect kids' privacy, creating a LookOver account requires you to be at least 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. This follows privacy laws like COPPA.
That's why a younger kid takes part through a parent's account rather than making their own. It's not about the content being unsafe. It's about not collecting a child's data. You can read the details in our Children's Privacy section and our Terms of Service.
Privacy & Safety for Families
Private by default
Your garage is private to you, and uploads like photos and receipts are never shared. The only sharing is what you start yourself, like a shared family garage or handing a buyer your service history by QR code when you sell.
Never sold
We don't sell your data, and we never use it to train AI models.
No ads
The app shows no ads to anyone, kid or adult. There's nothing trying to grab their attention.
Location only when you start it
GPS runs only during a ride you choose to track. There's no passive or background tracking without your say-so.
The app itself stays ad-free. LookOver does use limited advertising measurement to see which ad brought a new rider in, and on iOS it always asks first. For the full details on that and everything else we collect, read our Privacy Policy.
