In a Kwik Fit and HPI survey of 2,000 vehicle owners, buyers said they expect a 19% discount on a vehicle without service records. Nearly half wouldn't even consider the purchase at all.
Professional buyers go even further. The Car Buying Group reports that dealers and trade buyers commonly knock anywhere from 15% to 40% off a vehicle with no records, because they have to price in the unknown.
Here is the honest part. Most powersports owners actually do the maintenance. They just don't document it. Receipts get lost. Notes apps turn into mile-long scrolls. Dealer records are locked away in proprietary systems. When it is time to sell, there is nothing to show a buyer but your word.
Your word is worth something. A printed service history is worth more.
